Race Hunter Trail Marathon, Khao Yai

Once again a group of us headed up north towards Khao Yai National Park, this time to participate in the inaugural event by Race Hunter. A full length marathon but on a trail rather than road, exactly what we like.

And at 05:00 it looks like everyone is ready to hit the trail:
This is rainy season in Thailand but we are lucky, no rain today at all. The temperatures moderate just over 30 degrees celcius but the ground of course muddy from weeks of frequent rain, that should be fun. Let’s just take a look at my new shoes before the race – just in case.

And might as well get right to it, here is the after…:

There was some confusion right after the start when the marshalls got confused about the route and sent us down the wrong way twice, whereby inadvertantly adding 2km to the run from the onset – bummer! But hey, it was a great race in beautiful surroundings and great running conditions. We all had a really good time! Most importatly, we all made it:

And best thing ever, a Thai style sports massage immediately after the run. As if running 44,5km was not enough punishment…
